County Judge

Welcome to the Grant County Judges Office. As your County Judge, my goal is to serve the people of Grant County and strive to meet the needs of our county and its citizens.  The County Judge serves as the Chief Executive Officer in the administration of County Government in Arkansas.  As Chief Executive, the Judge authorizes and approves the disbursement of all appropriated County funds, operates the system of County roads, administers ordinances enacted by the Quorum Court, oversees County property, accepts grants from federal, state, public and private sources on behalf of the County, hires County employees for the offices under his position and presides over the Quorum Court without a vote, but with the power of veto.
Grant County, population 17,958, is in Central Arkansas, containing 633 square miles.  Sheridan is the county seat and the Saline River flows through the county.  Grant County was formed in 1869 and named for Ulysses S. Grant, U.S. President.  Grant County is also home to one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War, The Battle of Jenkins' Ferry, which occurred over a two day period, April 29-30, 1864.  More historical information can be found at the Grant County Museum located at 521 Shackleford Road in Sheridan or at www.grantcountymuseumar.com.
The Grant County Library is located at 210 N Oak in Sheridan and can also be helpful with the history of Grant County.  The Library offers a summer reading program, free internet access, audio books, videos, large print books and magazines, and offers services for home bound citizens.  If you would like to contact the Grant County Library for any of these services the number is 870-942-4436 or contact them at www.grantcountylibrary.org.  Their hours of operation are Monday 9:00 am--7:30 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 9:00 am --4:30 pm and Saturday 10:00 am--2:00 pm, closed Thursday and Sunday.
